Coordination of settlement and transport

On behalf of the Federal Office for Spatial Development (ARE), Brugger + Partner examined the interactions between settlements and transport and formulated recommendations for improved alignment of these sectors. Switzerland aims for sustainable settlement and transport development, requiring a clear vision of how spatial structures and transport flows will evolve. The project analysed the impact of anticipated population and settlement developments on transport demand in Switzerland, based on DETEC's National Passenger Transport Model (NPTM). Brugger + Partner visualised and interpreted key findings, summarising the critical challenges for transport and spatial planning policies in a concise synthesis report.
