Master of Science in Engineering: Regional development and policy
Brugger + Partner teaches in the practice-oriented Master of Science in Engineering (MSE), offered by the eight universities of applied sciences in Switzerland. The MSE is designed for students with an exceptional bachelor's degree in engineering, information technology, or construction and planning. Brugger + Partner provides a module on regional development, regional economics, and politics, adopting a functional-spatial perspective. Urban and rural areas are interconnected through reciprocal functional relationships, which generate distinct potentials, challenges, and development opportunities depending on the region. The course explores and discusses key issues and challenges arising from these interdependencies. It also introduces tools used in Switzerland to balance disparities. Another focus lies on regional economic questions and the economic models and theories central to regional development debates. The course also covers political governance at the regional level.
